Based on a trio of stories from Csillagmajor (Star Farm), Ervin Lázár's collection of related novellas, The Porcelain Doll tells three rural segments occurring at different points of Hungarian history. Yet, all segments have one thing in common: farm folk, who are amiable and simple yet cunning, have lived here on this Farms. From time to time, strangers come to the Farm. And it is then that all hell always breaks loose. Because the strangers also bring death with them. And destruction. And hate. And jealousy. And vanity. And shame. And lies. On this Farm strangers always cause trouble.... . . . Péter Gárdos was born in 1948 in Budapest, Hungary. He is a director and writer, known for Whooping Cough (1987), My God (1984) and The Last Blues (2002). After graduating from university, he joined the Newsreel and Documentary Studio as an assistant director, then as a director.
