Exception Requests

GS&S has recently integrated Certification requirements into the Enroll My Trip travel registration process. This means no additional form is required! As a result, GS&S will be phasing out reference to "certification" and will instead focus on endorsement and digital acknowledgement in the travel registration process.
Undergraduates just need to complete all fields in their travel registration and submit for approval.
Graduate students, faculty, and staff no longer require an endorsement for this type of travel. Completing the required fields in a travel registration, including any self-attestations, will fulfill all necessary requirements.
This impacts undergraduate and graduate student travel to CAT B destinations and faculty and staff travel to CAT C destinations.
Travel Requiring Approved Exception
The GS&S Travel Policy continues to require certain travel to obtain an approved Exception before it can be conducted as University Travel.
There are two versions of the Exception Request form: one for individual travel and one for group travel, both accessible below. Please refer to the first page of each document for a complete set of instructions.
Travelers must engage in this process, at minimum, one month prior to the travel's intended start date. Exception requests to Category X destinations require two months advanced engagement with GS&S.
This impacts undergraduate and graduate student travel to CAT C destinations and faculty, staff, and graduate students conducting PhD dissertation research travel to CAT X destinations.
