Carnival is an annual event designed to showcase and uplift the diverse ways in which cultural identity is celebrated throughout the Caribbean. Carnival has traditional origins in the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago, starting in the late 18th century during French colonization. Carnival has adapted to the local conditions and context of the variety of Caribbean islands and countries that have adopted the practice, but at its core, Carnival remains a powerful declaration of freedom, cultural pride, and empowerment. PCC strives to cultivate the experience of carnival, in all of its cultural and historical significance, amongst the Princeton community. This event keeps in line with those aims to introduce facets of Caribbean cultural traditions through food, dress, music, dance, and more. The event is scheduled for April 17, 2026, at Campus Club from 10 pm-2 am. The space will be designed to mirror the traditional Carnival aesthetic. Additionally, attendees will be able to participate in the wearing of colorful, multi-textural traditional garbs and accessories, rooted in Creole culture, to stimulate the cultural experience of dressing for Carnival. There will also be food and music native to the various islands across the Caribbean region.
