French Film Festival | Screening of Sudan, Remember Us (2024) + Q&A with filmmaker Hind Meddeb

Director H. Meddeb captures a jubilant moment of defiance among young Sudanese activists in Khartoum after the overthrow of a long dictature. As part of the 4th edition of the Princeton French Film Festival, join us for a screening of Sudan, Remember Us (2024) followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Hind Meddeb. Logistics: In French and Arabic with English subtitles, this event will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 7:00 PM. Open to everyone upon registration. Synopsis: In April 2019, the Paris-based filmmaker Hind Meddeb travelled to Sudan's capital, Khartoum, at a jubilant moment in the country's history. The long-time dictator Omar Al-Bashir had recently been overthrown after a 30-year regime marked by genocidal violence in Darfur. Meddeb began filming with young activists rallying for a citizen's government by staging sit-ins, making music, reciting poetry, and painting murals. Their hopes are expressed in signs that read Sudan free from tribalism and religious pluralism. Organized by the Princeton University's Princeton Film Festival organization in collaboration with Princeton African Summit and the Sudanese Students Association.
