Kurt Beals | War in Translation: 'All Quiet on the Western Front'

How does translation create and transform a literary classic? Erich Maria Remarque's novel All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the most widely read works of twentieth-century German literature, but until recently it was known primarily through A.W. Wheen's 1929 translation.
