Mpala is home for several research projects from researchers across the world including Princeton Faculty and Students.

The Mpala Research Centre welcomes applications by scientists and graduate students proposing new research projects. Research can be conducted at Mpala by any applicant with an explicitly proposed, funded, and approved project.

For many years, EEB brought a handful of juniors to Mpala to study abroad during the spring semester and new graduate students in January of their first year. Other courses have been hosted there, including two summer filmmaking seminars taught by professor of visual arts Su Friedrich and professor of ecology Dan Rubenstein. Some faculty have come for briefer periods—visiting professor of anthropology Janet Monge brought her students for a spring break trip and some have visited with students during the Wintersession.

The Mpala Research Fund aims to support faculty members from all disciplines who are interested in exploring or pursuing research opportunities and/or teaching initiatives at the Mpala Research Centre.
