Braeden Carroll ’26 awarded inaugural Lafayette Fellowship for graduate study in France
Braeden Carroll, a member of the Class of 2026, has been named a member of the inaugural Lafayette Fellows. The Lafayette Fellowship was launched in 2025 and supports up to 30 American students in pursuing one year of graduate study in France. With the fellowship, Carroll plans to pursue the Energy Environment: Science Technology and Management (STEEM) Master’s Program at École Polytechnique.
The program is in partnership with leading French academic institutions across multiple disciplines and aims to deepen academic and cultural exchange between France and the U.S. Lafayette Fellows also take part in a year-long French-American Leadership Program featuring lectures, masterclasses, site visits and mentorship for full immersion in European culture and policy.
Carroll, from Kinnelon, New Jersey, majored in civil and environmental engineering. A member of Rockefeller College, Carroll is a two-time recipient of the George B. Wood Legacy Prize and the Shapiro Prize for Academic Excellence, as well as a recipient of the 2026 Moses Taylor Pyne Honor Prize. He was a member of the men’s varsity lightweight rowing team and was recently awarded the Class of 1916 Cup.
