This is an intermediate/advanced language course that continues and reviews introductory level Spanish while further developing communication skills both orally and in writing. As an immersion course, language instruction will be complemented by a basic knowledge of Argentinean culture and society. By the end of the course, students will have a better command of the basic language skills: listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing; they will also have enriched their cultural knowledge. Class will meet four times a week in the morning with Wednesday afternoon and Friday excursions.

An intensive course designed to prepare students to enter 200-level courses, with an emphasis on reading, speaking, and writing. The course is aimed at developing advanced language skills through frequent writing exercises, oral presentations, discussions of current events, literary texts, music, and film. Three classes. Prerequisite: 105 or satisfactory score on the Princeton Spanish placement test.

This is an advanced Spanish course that focuses on pronunciation, oral expression, and writing skills. By analyzing myths, legends, folk tales, and fantastic stories, students will attain an appreciation for Latin American ideologies, values, beliefs, and cultural heritage. The course serves as a solid introduction to other 200-level Spanish courses and it integrates a variety of written, oral, graphic and cinematographic sources.

SPA 204 is an advanced Spanish course focusing on health and medical topics. Its main purpose is to put students in contact with the health care situation in the indigenous communities of Ecuador. During the first 6 weeks of the semester, students will learn about those topics and will get ready for a medical mission that will take place during Spring Break. The last 6 weeks will be dedicated to research and reflection.

An advanced level Spanish course on health and medical topics. Its main purpose is to provide the students with vocabulary and linguistic skills to discuss medical issues, and to prepare them to interact with Spanish speakers in a healthcare environment in the U.S. or Latin America. The course is focused on both oral and written skills. It will also explore some aspects of the Spanish-speaking culture in the fields of health and medicine through authentic documents and the contribution of guest speakers.

An advanced level Spanish course on legal and business language. The aim is to provide students with a new vocabulary for classroom discussions, readings and practice in a guided legal and business-related context. This course enables a deeper understanding of grammatical concepts previously presented as well as the syntactical and lexical challenges typical of this specific area of the Spanish language. Students will also be introduced to the basics of a completely different legal system and different business cultures, through texts, discussions, research, translation practice, situational case studies, and videos.

An advanced course in Spanish composition and conversation designed to give students increased fluency and expertise in written and verbal Spanish skills. Extensive review of grammar and vocabulary through written and oral exercises. Course material includes literary texts, news-related publications, and films. Three classes. Prerequisite: SPA 107 or SPA 108 or equivalent AP/SAT score.

An intensive, four-week advanced course in Spanish composition and conversation taught in Toledo, Spain. Its main purpose is to increase the student's fluency and accuracy in spoken and written Spanish. Importance is also given to understanding elements of Spanish literature and culture through literary texts, Spanish audiovisual resources, and films.

An intensive, six week immersion course in Spanish and Argentine culture and history. This course is designed for students who have completed the Spanish language requirement and wish to improve their fluency and accuracy in spoken and written Spanish. By examining the political, cultural, and artistic history of Buenos Aires, the course also seeks to enable the students to understand and interpret Argentine culture and politics through literature, film, tango music, theater, photography, architecture and graffiti.

SPA 208 is an intensive, five-week full immersion course in Spanish language, and Argentine history, culture, and art. This course is designed for students who have completed their Spanish language requirement and wish to strengthen their proficiency in spoken and written Spanish in a Latin American country. The course also seeks to enable students to understand and interpret Argentine history and rich culture, through the exploration of the city of Buenos Aires, its architecture, museums, and cultural life; and the analysis of television and print media.
